Quarterly Planning Sessions

Close the quarter with what really happened, then choose next quarter's rocks with the evidence in front of you.

Once a quarter, step back from the weekly grind and decide what matters most for the next 90 days. In Business OS, those few big goals are called rocks.

Good planning starts with an honest look back. Before the session, ask Armbrain for a planning pack from the client's mind:

Building the pack only reads the record. Nothing changes until you decide.

In the session, choose the final rocks with the client. Then give Armbrain the rocks and their owners. It asks you to confirm before it starts the new quarter or saves any rock.

During the quarter, check pace in the weekly meeting: which rocks are on track and which are slipping. A rock that slips two weeks in a row usually needs an issue logged, not more hope. Read the quarterly planning guide.

Try it

  • Armbrain, list the Harbor Dental Group issues raised this quarter that were never solved.

  • Armbrain, which Harbor Dental Group rocks are on pace this quarter, and which are slipping?

Prompt of the day

Plan next quarter's rocks

Change these first:

CLIENTCOMPANY = Harbor Dental Group Armbrain, help me plan next quarter's rocks for CLIENTCOMPANY. Start with what we finished, what slipped and which issues are still open.

Why it works: It makes the look back come before the wish list, so new rocks build on what really happened instead of repeating what slipped.
